Sometimes the only way
to get the painting that you want is to actually have an artist
paint it for you.
I have been painting custom home portraits
for clients for over 20 years, if you are looking to have a home
portrait or other custom painting done choosing the right artist
makes all the difference in the world.
I have been focusing on waterfront home portraits
throughout the New England Coast and (Nantucket, Cape Cod, Maine
and the Finger Lakes) such subjects as
Custom home portraits,
Cottage portraits, Boat portraits, Landscapes, Lake views and
Seascapes.
A home portrait painting by Christopher Wheat
is not your average portrait of your home. It is a fine art painting
that captures mood and memories along with the subject your home.

Some things to think about
when deciding on a Custom painting.
Choosing the right artist! When looking
to have a home portrait (Custom painting) done it is very important
to choose the right home portrait artist to do your painting.
You have found the right artist and here is why. The details of
the painting are what make a great custom painting come to life
for you the purchaser. I have worked with well over 500 clients
to create that special custom painting. I welcome you to look
through my site to view my other paintings along with custom portrait
paintings on this page to get a feel for what I do. I'm sure you
will see for your self that you are in the right place, and have
found the right artist.
What view would you like? In some cases,
as with waterfront home portrait, you may have a few options for
a painting. A couple of possibilities would be a view from the
water, with the water in the foreground of the painting or a view
from the front of the house with the water in the back ground.
As we walk through the process I will discuss the options to help
you determine the best over all view for your painting.
What size painting would you like?
Think about where your painting will be displayed
in your home or office. Is it a mantle piece or will it go on
a small wall? Will it be a focal point for the room or will it
be an accent piece? Also when choosing a size, will the subject
of the painting be best represented well in this size? Please
note: This is a very important question. It is best to capture
a sprawling waterfront home in a larger painting due to the amount
of detail and area covered. Additionally, some subject matter
will lose a great amount of detail if the size is not proportional.
So, if you have any hesitation about size, please ask for guidance,
as I would be happy to share information based on my experience.
I want you to be comfortable knowing that you will be satisfied
with all aspects of the painting, including size.
Some of the most common sizes include: 16x20,
18x24, 24x30, 24x36, 32x 46 & 36x48.
However since this is a custom painting, we can
work around any size you desire.
Please note that I price my work based on time
and scope of the project, and what I have sold similar works for
recently. Price quotes are typically guaranteed for a maximum
of 30 days, but are subject to change with out notice.
Why? Over the past 5 years the demand for
my paintings has increased steadily, averaging an increase in
value of approximately 15% per year. As I continue to grow Nationally
and Internationally this percentage will likely grow.
The only way to hold a price is to book your portrait..
This will reserve your portrait in my painting schedule and hold
the current price. On occasion, my schedule can get booked solid,
so you will only benefit from reserving your place and price now.
I work on a schedule and booking your custom
portrait in advance of need is helpful. Thank You!
