Christopher
is a self-taught artist whose oil paintings capture the subtle nuances
that make a painting come to life for the viewer. His attention
to detail capture the subtle changes in light on the landscape and
pressing shadows push his paintings to a level of execution that
is hard to find in the art world today, making owning one of his
paintings something very special.
"My
goal as an artist is to capture the feeling of the subject and bring
the viewer into the image, evoking the feeling of being there,"
states Christopher, "I have been fortunate to do the one thing that
I have always dreamed about doing for my work, to be an artist.
There is a freedom that is hard to explain that comes with doing
what you were meant to do in life. The joy I bring to the easel
with me each day is hard to contain as I work on a painting. I have
found that this is really what makes my paintings come to life.
I truly enjoy creating beautiful
paintings!"
"Becoming
a part of the environment that you paint is very important to me",
says Christopher, "I have been painting through out the New England
coast for the past 18 years and the subject matter is very close
to my heart. My focus currently is on creating art of Nantucket.
Last year I was able to spend much of my summer painting on island
thanks to my dear friends (Inn keepers) Jean E and Gerry at the
Century House
on Cliff rd just a short walk from town and shopping. They are oldest
running Nantucket inn and the best place to stay".
This
year artist Christopher Wheat will be splitting time between the
Finger Lakes and Nantucket, looking to develop a strong presents

as one of the top Nantucket artists to add to your collection. If

"I have built upon the premonition
of my young artist self and the ideas that I have explored while
painting in the field and studio over the past 20 years and have
found there is no better teacher than time it self."
